This paper reviews the Electronic Health Record (EHR) adoption in medical practices since the inception of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The document further evaluates the challenges medical practice administrators face throughout the selection and implementation process of an EHR with a goal of creating medical practice sustainability. Governmental incentives and the impact on EHR adoption is reviewed, along with a financial analysis on the positive and negative benefits of transitioning to an EHR.
