The main purpose of this paper is to provide assistance to a medical practice’s leadership and physicians looking into the possibility of a merger or acquisition with a large health care organization or larger independent physician practice. The research shows the steps that need to be taken to avoid risk, inefficiency, dishonesty and lack of communication as well as the steps that need to be taken to ensure a successful merger. Performing due diligence during analysis and maintaining mutual trust for all physician practices and health care organizations during a merger are the two main components for success.
