Section 1557: Summary of 2020 Final Rule's Impact on Language Access Requirements
On August 18, 2020, a final rule from the Office for Civil Rights (OCR) under the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) went into effect, revising the agency’s prior 2016 regulations under Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). MGMA prepared this fact sheet to inform members of the current language access requirements; the 2020 rule addresses several other topics that are not addressed here.
