How do you promote your practice in an environment where patients are quick to post reviews and comments about their experiences on social media? Andrea Eliscu, MGMA member, president, Medical Marketing, Inc., Orlando, Fla., calls them “prosumers.”

In this digital environment, “marketing becomes all about relationships, about service, about your community and about communication,” Eliscu says. She recommends taking a long look at your business plan to figure out how you can better serve your patients and your community.

“Word of mouth by a patient is powerful,” Eliscu says. Good communication and personalized care, she adds, are the keys to patient satisfaction, which can lead to referrals.

Listen to our full conversation and learn more about how you can add a personal touch to your marketing strategies from Eliscu in this episode of our podcast series, MGMA Small Talk.

Eliscu’s new book, It’s Personal: The Art of Building Your Practice, is also available from the MGMA Store.
