2019 Richard-Sargent Memorial Fund Grant Recipients

David Koch, MBA, CMPE
David serves as Executive Director of Operations for the Medical Practices of Spectrum Health Lakeland (SHL), who was recognized nationally as a Top 15 Health System in 2019 by IBM Watson Health, based on a balanced scorecard of publicly available clinical, operational and patient satisfaction data. Prior to coming to SHL in 2015, David served as Chief Operating Officer for VNA Health Care, one of the largest FQHCs in Illinois, serving the western suburbs of Chicago. He has been in healthcare management for more than 30 years, working with both community and national organizations. David received his Bachelor of Science in Business from Indiana University and his Master of Business Administration from Northern Illinois University. In 2018, he completed an intense 18-month leadership program at Spectrum Health Lakeland called Leading Toward the Future. He became a Certified Medical Practice Executive (CMPE) through MGMA in 2017 and anticipates his Fellowship in 2020.

Angela Patterson, CPCO, CMPE
Angela Patterson, CPCO, CMPE is employed as a Vice President by Comprehensive Medical Solutions, Inc. (CompMed). Her areas of responsibilities include HR, Compliance, IT/Systems, Marketing, Credentialing/Contracting, Data Analysis, and Corporate Business Operations. She has almost 30 years experience in practice management and medical billing. Patterson is instrumental in assisting CompMed with software and process improvements to make the billing system more efficient and automated. She serves as CompMed╎s Compliance Officer, chairs its Compliance Committee, leads it Credentialing team, and also oversees areas of Security, Privacy, and OSHA. Her specialties of focus are radiology, anesthesia, geriatrics, podiatry, telemedicine, and medication therapy management. Patterson is certified by the American Academy of Procedural Coders (AAPC) as a Certified Professional Compliance Officer (CPCO) and has completed the CMS Medicare Billing Certificate Training Program. In 2018 she earned the designation of Certified Medical Practice Executive (CMPE) from the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA). She is currently pursuing Fellowship FACMPE with the MGMA. She is a member of the RBMA (Radiology Business Management Association), MGMA, and AAPC. She is an active member of her local Cleveland, Tennessee Chapter of the AAPC and has served in several leadership roles, including Past President and Treasurer. Patterson earned a BS degree from Berry College in Rome, Georgia where she doubled majored in Economics and Business Management and minored in Accounting. She enjoys learning Spanish as a second language. Patterson resides in Cleveland, Tennessee. She has a daughter, Hannah, and a son, Max.
Daniel Strauch, ACMPE
Daniel Strauch is currently working as Executive Director, Regional Development with Great Lakes Physician Practice. It is a multi-specialty group with primary and specialty care and over 60 providers. Dan has over 15 years of practice management experience in addition to 12 years in hospital administration. He earned a Masters of Health Administration degree from The Ohio State University and a Bachelors degree from The College of Wooster in Ohio. Dan became a Certified Medical Practice Executive in 2008 and has submitted a Strategic Business Plan as part of a Fellowship application in ACMPE. He is currently serving as Vice President of the New York MGMA and is due to become President in October 2019.
Bradley Walker, RN, MBA, CMPE
Bradley recently started with Peace Health in the Pacific Northwest area as medical group operations director. Prior to that he has been with SSM Health, Sanford Health, USC Medical in Los Angeles, & 3 years as a health care consultant. Bradley started as a combat medic in the military and progressed to paramedic and RN. He earned his Executive MBA from University of California in 2006, and his CMPE this year. He currently serves as the nurse representative on the National Board of Hyperbaric Medicine (UHMS).

Stacy Williams, CMPE
Stacy started her career in the late 90s in physician billing and coding. She has worked her way up through the years and is now the Administrator for an Internal Medical Practice in Jacksonville, FL. Stacy earned her Bachelor’s degree in Supervision & Management at Florida State College at Jacksonville. She recently earned the CMPE credential and is actively pursuing Fellowship with the American College of Medical Practice Executives.
