The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) recently published revisions to ICD-10-CM Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting for fiscal year (FY) 2025, effective Oct. 1, 2024, through Sept. 30, 2025.
These changes include 63 new neoplasm codes, 27 in the digestive and eating disorders, 33 in musculoskeletal, and 30 in injury, poisoning and other external causes.
Not only are codes updated, notations are updated as well. Many are added, deleted and modified as noted. It is always important to review codes to ensure notation are appropriately followed and applied.
