2022 data reports

MGMA Data Report: Performance and Practices of Successful Medical Groups (September 2022)The September 2022 MGMA data report, Performance and Practices of Successful Medical Groups, brings together benchmarks from three of MGMA's industry-leading surveys to highlight the Better Performers data set, featuring key performance standards in A/R, patient access and more from the top-performing medical groups in the country. The report includes original reporting from frontline leaders in MGMA Better Performer practices on how they built the culture and operations that sustain medical practice excellence.

Data Report: Patient Access and Value-Based Outcomes Amid The Great AttritionThe August 2022 MGMA data report, Patient Access and Value-Based Outcomes Amid The Great Attrition, showcases brand-new benchmarks from the 2022 MGMA DataDive Practice Operations data set, including value-based revenue and quality measure performance. With data from more than 2,300 organizations, it also highlights issues with staffing shortages and rising consumer costs and their impact on benchmarks for patient appointment no-shows, wait times, billing and collections.

MGMA Data Report: Maintaining Margin in the Inflation Era (July 2022)The July 2022 MGMA data report, Maintaining Margin in the Inflation Era, reflects key findings from the 2022 MGMA DataDive Cost and Revenue data set, with data from more than 4,000 organization to serve as a baseline for benchmarking 2022 operations. The insights detail productivity gaps compared to pre-pandemic benchmarks, uneven recoveries across practice ownership types, and trends in total medical revenue, as well as declines in support staffing levels amid the Great Reshuffle.

The June 2022 MGMA data report, Competing for Talent and Building Culture amid the Great Reshuffle, reveals many of the benchmarks included in the 2022 MGMA DataDive Management and Staff Compensation data set, from the C-suite to the front desk. With data from more than 142,660 positions from more than 3,400 organizations nationwide, it serves as a baseline for benchmarking in 2022. The report also includes more context on successful strategies for employee benefit offerings, training programs, and cultural considerations to ensure you have the right people for the job.

The May 2022 MGMA data report, Provider Pay and the Pandemic: Realizing Recovery, offers a closer look at the most up-to-date and comprehensive set of industry benchmarks within the 2022 MGMA DataDive Provider Compensation data set. The data, reflecting information from more than 192,000 providers across more than 7,700 organizations, are the best apples-to-apples comparison to pre-pandemic benchmarks following a lockdown-heavy 2020.

 

2021 data reports

Performance and Practices of Successful Medical Groups, in addition to presenting industry benchmarks for successful medical groups, offers frontline insights into how many MGMA Better Performer organizations have tackled the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic to get back to focusing on exceptional business performance while still delivering high-quality care.

Provider Pay and the Pandemic reveals the major trends throughout a year shaped by a public health emergency and the extent to which productivity and compensation rebounded after catastrophic declines in March and April 2020. These insights, derived from the MGMA Provider Compensation and Productivity benchmarking survey, have added context from a special, monthly survey that collected provider- and practice-level data about the expansion of telehealth services and how charges and collections were affected by the unique challenges of the past year.

COVID-19 Recovery and the Evolution of Medical Practice Operations report, based on 2020 data from more than 1,600 organizations, offers a comprehensive view of the pandemic year, detailing key performance indicators that reflect incredible operational changes that have evolved patient engagement and impacted medical practices’ financial resilience.

A Tale of Two Recoveries report reveals key trends from MGMA's Cost and Revenue survey report, paired with expert insights from industry leaders and MGMA member feedback, to round out the history of healthcare's 2020 pandemic response and guide practice leaders as they strategize for the post-pandemic future in 2022 and beyond.

Building a People-First Pandemic Recovery reveals key trends from the 2021 MGMA Management and Staff Compensation survey report and gives context to how practice leaders are adjusting their recruitment, hiring and compensation strategies across regions to ensure they have the right, highly skilled staff to continue delivering high-quality care beyond the pandemic.
