The Medical Group Management Association’s most recent MGMA Stat poll asked healthcare professionals the percentage of their commercial insurance contracts that are tied to Medicare Part B payment rates. Overall, 72 percent of the respondents stated that some or all of their commercial insurance contracts were based on Medicare payment levels.
The national poll described that 31 percent of practice leaders reported up a quarter of their contracts were based on Medicare, 12 percent indicated between a quarter and half of their contracts were so based, 11 percent had between half and three quarters, and 17 percent had over three quarters of their commercial insurance contracts based on Medicare payment.
The poll was conducted on September 26, 2017 with 762 total responses. Of this total, 66 indicated the question was not applicable to their situation with a net of 696 applicable responses.
