Home > Continuing Education & Volunteer Hours - Extension request

The current cycle began on January 1, 2022, and concludes on December 31, 2024.

To maintain your ACMPE credentials and complete your CMPE, MGMA requires 50 hours of continuing education.

    Of the 50 hours:

    • 30 hours must be from MGMA National, state or local sources.
12 must be from LIVE learning events provided by MGMA National, state or local sources.
    • 20 hours must also come from qualified sources relevant to the medical practice management field or MGMA.

    For Fellows:

In addition to the 50 hours of continuing education, Fellows must complete six hours of volunteer work within the same three-year cycle.

    Of these six hours:

    • Three hours must be related to healthcare.
    • The remaining hours can be for any type of volunteer work, including community service.
    • All volunteer hours must be recorded in your ACMPE tracking, even if completed through MGMA opportunities.

    Need an Extension?

If you are unable to meet your required hours by December 31, 2024, you can request a one-time, one-year extension. This extension, reviewed by the American College of Medical Practice Executives (ACMPE), allows you to complete your requirements by December 31, 2025.

The extension will apply to the cycle from January 1, 2022, to December 31, 2025.

You can log continuing education and volunteer hours earned between January 1, 2022, and December 31, 2025.

    Important:

This extension is a one-time-only opportunity. Failure to meet the requirements by December 31, 2025, will result in the loss of your designation.

To review your credit hours, access your ACMPE transcript via your dashboard through ACMPE tracking. Once logged in, you can:

    • View your transcript
    • Log credit hours using the online entry system
    • View a list of eligible continuing education activities
