The Human Genome Project is one of the greatest scientific feats in history. According to the National Human Genome Research Institute, the cost to sequence a human genome was approximately $100 million in 2001. The cost has steadily declined over the past two decades, and what was once accessible to less than 1% of the population is finally available for middle-class families. Learn why 87% of parents reported being “very interested” in learning as much as they can, as soon as they can, about treatable childhood conditions, and how whole genome screening services are the answer. This session will provide historical perspective on genomics and help you understand why experts consider it to be the future of precision medicine, as well as how “out-of-box” whole genome screening services can support your practice without inventory, technology risk, or added expertise.

This 60-minute webinar will provide you with the knowledge to:

    • Compare newborn screening (NBS) to more comprehensive screening technologies
    • Differentiate consumer-focused DNA products from clinical, whole genome screening services
    • Examine the growth of genetic counseling and where whole genome services fit into medical practices to help patients live healthier lives
