As of 2017, about 70% of U.S. surgeries occurred in an outpatient setting, according to a CMS report. As the trend toward outpatient care continues, so does attention on outpatient safety. While efforts to improve safety measures have focused on inpatient settings in recent decades, the ambulatory side largely lacks standardized metrics and best practices. Preliminary 3M analysis of more than 11 million at-risk ambulatory procedures indicates that complication rates may be as high as 10% for certain procedures. Improving outpatient safety positively impacts the lives of patients and is crucial for organizations to succeed in value-based care models. Join 3M Health Information Systems Global Chief Medical Officer Dr. Sandeep Wadhwa and Dr. Miki Patterson, 3M HIS product owner, as they share actionable insights for advancing outpatient safety measures.

This 60-minute webinar will provide you with the knowledge to:

    • Recognize the broader implications of safety incidents on downside risk contracts
    • Review the current challenges and opportunities related to patient safety in outpatient settings
    • Identify a roadmap for identifying gaps in current outpatient safety practices
