A Message to Prospective San Diego Attendees
As COVID-19 continues across our country and the world, you may be considering whether to attend MGMA’s Medical Practice Excellence Leaders Conference held October 24-27 in San Diego, CA.
MGMA wants you to know that your safety is our highest priority. We are taking our guidance from the CDC, in compliance with San Diego County and California recommendations and regulations.
Let me highlight a few important examples of our heightened safety precautions:
- Mask mandates are still in place while in airports, on airplanes, and in all other modes of mass transit. You’re protected while in large crowds while traveling.
- Social distancing of three feet while in education sessions onsite. While not required at this time, MGMA is taking this extra precaution while attendees are in learning sessions.
- MGMA prefers all attendees to be vaccinated, and for those that are, masks are not mandatory. But for those attendees who are not vaccinated, masks are required. Per CDC guidelines, anyone attending a large event who hasn’t been vaccinated must wear a mask.
- Heightened safety requirements including single serving food and beverage stations, airflow and filtration improvements inside the San Diego Convention Center and deep cleaning procedures at all hotel partners and the convention center.
In addition, MGMA is also taking onsite safety a degree further. We have employed a safety and security firm to improve the policies and procedures we use to deliver all of our risk mitigation efforts while onsite together. This way, we’re ensuring the safest environment possible for you and all those who attend our first in person meeting in over 18 months.
As more and more Americans get vaccinated, and with the precautions we’re implementing for a safe environment, we’re confident that your conference experience will not only be safe, but enjoyable. As an extra level of convenience, when you register, our risk-free registration process allows you to cancel without penalty up to 45 days in advance of conference.
We’re hopeful that ongoing vaccination efforts will stem this recent surge of the virus, and that come October, we’ll all be safely celebrating our extraordinary achievements together. If we can’t see you in San Diego this year, please join us for our Digital Experience, held November 16-18.
